 - out the winter of '61-'62, drilling and

preparing for the long and arduous campaigns

which were to follow.  In

March 1862, the battery was shipped by

steamer to Maryland shore, 40 miles

south of Washington.  The long term of

the lines as it was organized July 2 was

near the left and in the wheat field

near the base of Little Round Top Hill.

There they fought with intrepid heroism

such as had characterized their  service

during the previous battles and

Felix Agnew was born in Canada, enlisted at Wegatchie Nov 17, 1862, Co. L., 14th Artillery; taken prisoner near Weldon R.R., Oct. 1, 1863; was in Sharon prison, then in Andersonville, where he died April 29, 1864.

Hiram Apple, born in Macomb Aug 12, 1846, enlisted at Rossie Nov 25th, 1836 in Co. K, 14th Artillery, was in battles of Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Petersburg and Cold Harbor, went to City Point hospital, transferred to Stowe’s hospital, discharged Aug 25, 1865.

         Betts, for the past thirty years a resident of Norwood, died at his home in this village last

         Thursday, aged 90 years. In his youth Mr. Betts was a student at Gouverneur Wesleyan Seminary

         under Jesse T. Peck and the friendship originating at that time endured through life. From the
